“A disciple is a learner, a student, an apprentice – a practitioner… Disciples of Jesus are people who do not just profess certain views as their own but apply their growing understanding of life in the Kingdom of the Heavens to every aspect of their life on earth”
Why do it?
In times of war, great generals rely not only on the dedication of their soldiers, but on an intentional strategy that is crafted for each battle. This strategy is the blueprint to achieve victory. Of course, most of us are aware that scripture teaches we are in a spiritual conflict. I believe this conflict affects us and the people in our cities. What is it in your life, your family, in the sphere of influence around you that is waiting for the victory of Christ? There are battles God has assigned to be your victory. People need you and your faith! Do you know His Spirit is training our hands for war (Ps 144:1)? In fact, because we are in Christ, we share in His destiny to put all things under His feet (Heb 2:8). However, before we share in His destiny, we must share in His life. So, can you see yourself in the training camp of God? What is He working on in your life right now? I believe if we as a Church listen, we will hear Him whisper the promise that He will make us "ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete" (2 Cor 10:6). As He is the great general of our faith, we owe Him both our dedication (unto death) and a listening ear to be trained by Him for this battle! Let’s redeem the time now and find out what pleases the Lord (Eph 5:16-17)! Would you consider joining us on our upcoming Discipleship Challenge as part of your spiritual training?
What is it?
Here's how it works…
Pray and ask Jesus to give you one person to disciple, and one person to submit to for a 6 month time frame. If this is not an obvious fit at this point, I would encourage you to find friends who want to engage in the process as well, and just do it together.
Mark your calendars for each of our three equipping events. Show up with your new discipleship community at each one. At these events there will be specific training, room to practice, and spiritual grace to experience something new.
After each event, Workers for Joy will also provide resources to continue to practice the truth you are stepping into. Do your homework with your new community!
Should you need any relational follow up as a discipler or disciplee, we want to be available to help you on your journey.
We have faith this WILL move you forward at an accelerated pace! Take the risk!
Can you describe each event?
Hearing God’s Voice - This class is a very important foundation for this journey. Our deepest created need is spiritual communion with the Father. How we know Him is the art of spiritual perception. He is moving, He is speaking, He is shepherding our soul! In this class, we will learn how to hear God’s voice, the many ways God speaks in the Bible, how we test spiritual perception, and more!
Spirit Java - Spirit Java is a community based evangelism tool. By community, we mean something you can’t pull off on your own. The “Spirit Cafe” is a place in our community where unbelievers can come to get spiritual direction (prophetic words), physical healing, dream interpretation and more. After this training you will have the opportunity to be incorporated into a role serving under a team leader. The Java team is comprised of small groups to pray and minister, greet, interceed (in a different room), and facilitate hospitality (coffee and snacks). Every role is important! Whatever your gift there is a place for you! You will be part of seeing people getting introduced to Jesus after having an encounter with Him! Spirit Java is a place for creating spiritual encounter!
Shepherding and Healing Ministry - Everyone has faced hurt in life. Sometimes we even get stuck to the point where we are not experiencing mental, emotional, and spiritual freedom! How do you minister to those with emotional pain or spiritual strongholds? Come learn about the grace Jesus has on His life to move in love and wisdom that restores the soul. Jesus is the the great Shepherd! As we begin to understand how He moves in “inner healing” and sanctification, we will help Him to heal, equip, and then release others into destiny.
